I mentioned previously that we initially contemplated on whether to book a villa, a homestay or another resort based on a friend's recommendation. We scanned for a few more options putting into consideration the price, a rating of at least 3* and location - and somehow settled for this one. There were way too many confusing reviews on Trip Advisor and the rest of the travel sites online, mostly on very judgmental budget travelers who pay peanuts and expect a luxurious hotels - so my friends and I decided to try it for ourselves.

Aonang All Seasons Beach Resort (3.5*)

162 Moo 3, Tambol Ao Nan Amphur Muang, Krabi, 81000 Thailand

Period of stay: 26 - 29 March 2015
Room booked: Superior Room (Room A103 & A104)
Spent: S$52.93/night including tax

Staff & Guest Service:
Fuss free check-in and check-out service. Their staffs were really helpful and catered to all of our needs (eg. carrying our duffel bags, fetching us hot water, checking for our transport etc) but they were pretty quiet and shy though. Nonetheless, they didn't give us any bad impressions and although we could see that some of the porters couldn't speak English, they were always seen with a smile.

Room & Facilities:
Pretty decent sized room with three fresh sets of towels at the edge of our bed every morning (bath, face and beach towels) , box television, a really tiny and cramped toilet, but with a huge shower-head with awesome hot water. Has a fridge but no kettle in the room, but you can get hot water from their lobby. Everything was pretty basic but what's important is that everything is clean and doesn't malfunction.

I understand that there are two buildings, A being the building upfront and B facing the canal. We got the rooms A103/A104 on the first floor that is right at the entrance of the hotel, which makes it super accessible and hassle free for us without having to take lifts, stairs or go so far into the resort just to get to our rooms. We had a view of a white wall and loads of laundry space - which is much better than having to face another hotel room or the canal. Also, being on the first floor, we got the privilege of having a porch instead of a tiny balcony - we spent all three nights gathered around to gossip, play cards and have take away dinner together!

Location & Amenities:
The resort is located right opposite Noppharat Beach with longtail boats departing right from the beach itself. We purposely chose a resort that is far from the main tourist streets of Krabi Town thinking it would be pretty quiet, but it was quite noisy from where we slept due to the music from the huge seafood place right across the street. It isn't exactly on the main street but there a number of smaller massage parlors, restaurants and shit loads of food carts/tiny night markets along the premises. Also, it took us only 10-15 minutes to walk down to where the stretch of shopping streets were, off Aonang Beach. Not exactly an ideal location but it was good enough.

They had breakfast but we didn't get a taste of that either because it's not halal. They have a restaurant on the first floor, a swimming pool and their own tour desk. Unfortunately, we didn't have the chance to try any of those. They provided free wifi, not exactly high speed like what their website mentioned though.. but it works.

What I Liked:
Our huge first floor porch. Fresh and nice smelling towels every morning. Super helpful staff. Good room cleanliness. Awesome hot water.

What I Didn't Like:
The smelly canal right outside. Mosquitoes from being too near to the canal. Noise from the roads and restaurants in the middle of the night. Intermittent phones and wifi connection.

Would I Stay Here Again?
No, thank you :) It's good for budget travelers, but this isn't a beach front hotel. There are definitely more options closer to Aonang Beach for the same price.
