How To Get There
Located around the Kampong Glam area, Koh Nangkam is pretty accessible to get to, actually. There are a lot of buses that go past Victoria Street or you can always choose to walk the short ten to fifteen minutes route from Bugis MRT to the restaurant itself. Google map your way to the place and you'll be fine.
The buffet area was pretty straight forward, with two long stretches of tables on either sides and an alley in the middle. The left row is filled with serving trays of at least eight different dishes.
I was honestly satisfied with the variety of food. I am a very picky (and boring) eater but their dishes were so good and to my liking. I loved the three flavored fish, especially. Some places usually make it too spicy or too sour but theirs was the perfect blend of sweet, sour and spicy. Their dishes were all really fresh and the staffs were extremely efficient in topping up the serving trays from their kitchen.
Being a Southern Thai Cuisine restaurant, they definitely did it right with the different types of Thai salads from papaya, to mango, many different Thai desserts and of course everybody's favourite, the mango sticky rice.
What we liked:
The variety of food and drinks, the way the drinks were being served, the green curry and the kuah lemak, the strong aircon, how value for money it was for a buffet dinner, how homely the restaurant felt, how efficiently the dishes were being topped up and how accommodating the manager and staffs were to our party.
What we didn't like:
The buffet area was too small, honestly the previous buffet style (with the serving area in the middle of the room) was more spacious. The ambiance can be improved. There's no lifts so the second level wasn't that accessible for our Singapore Paralympics, and there wasn't any radio or announcement for the call of prayer despite there being a Ramadhan feast.
Eating here has definitely made me miss Thailand. Maybe it's time I book a trip to revisit the land of smiles. Anyway, I had an enjoyable dinner here with the governors of Masbate and staff team, despite having a slight misunderstanding about the seating area when we arrived. Thank you Koh Nangkam for the hospitality!
